Life on the Nile in Cairo

Flowing right through the mega-city of Cairo, the Nile is a place for fun, work and also living. For 25 cents colourful motor boats go up and down the Nile for 30 minutes and teenagers and families are dancing on them to deafening music. At the same time, whole families somehow make their homes on small rowing boats and eek out livings catching fish. Nearby, over 100 years’ old wooden houseboats create a rather exclusive and eccentric address for Cairo’s rather bohemian foreign and Egyptian population.
